Biography

Sheila Evans has lived in the Pacific Northwest for most of her life and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art from Gonzaga University in 1988. She has worked as a professional artist for over 25 years. After nearly a decade of exclusive work in pastel, she began painting in oil, expanding her subject matter to include still life and animals in addition to her original botanical and landscape work.  In 2016, she added kiln-fired enamel on metals to her repertoire, intending to make public art. Sheila devised a method of making large-scale enamel works with a relatively small kiln, linking colorful enameled panels into two- and three-dimensional shapes. Sheila now works primarily in enamels and oil painting. Her current works celebrate the diversity of Pacific Northwest birds and wildlife.  Sheila took up bird and wildlife photography to obtain reference photos of her subjects and now takes every chance she gets to hike and kayak in the wild in search of inspiration.
